Freshwater fish species distribution in Spain

Database containing information on 40 freshwater fish species distribution across Spain at 1km grid cell resolution (main file: Species_distribution_UTM_prob1000.csv) The information was obtained through the development of Species Distribution Models calculated using one of the most complete databases on fish occurrences across Spain. The database contains in the rows all UTM1x1 km within the river network, and for each species includes information on the probability of occurrence obtained in our models (from 1-1000). For more information about the models see: xxxx There are two columns per species where we set a threshold for defining a maximum and minimum distribution. To set those thresholds we checked the habitat suitability values obtained for the sites with recorded presences for each species. We then discarded all those areas that although having confirmed presences for the species, showed very low habitat suitability values. We made this to discard potential fortuitous records where the species was found outside its natural range of environmental conditions that could bias the later distribution maps. Regarding the column of minimum distribution (spcode_dmin), areas with a very high probability of finding the species, we selected data over the 50th percentile. The column for the maximum distribution (spcode_dmax) which includes intermediate suitability values, where the habitat shows suboptimal values although the species is likely to be found, we select data over the 15th percentile.
