资源简介:
Data Description for the SOSIM v1.0 Dataset 1. Overview This dataset supports the manuscript titled ‘The coupled Southern Ocean–Sea ice–Ice shelf Model (SOSIM v1.0): configuration and evaluation’ submitted to Geoscientific Model Development, with ID egusphere-2025-6487. It contains the source code, configuration files, processed model outputs, and all scripts necessary to reproduce the figures presented in the paper and its supplement. 2. Dataset Contents The following components are uploaded to ScienceDB and comprise the primary resources for reproducing the study's results. The total size is approximately 103 GB. 2.1 SOSIM Configuration Files File: SOSIM_v1.0_configuration.zip Size: 4 GB (compressed); expands to ~135 GB. Description: This archive contains all necessary source code, model configuration files (e.g., namelists, grid files, and open boundary forcing). For more instructions on how to set up and run SOSIM using these files, please refer to the separate tutorial file SOSIM_v1.0_Quick_Tutorial.pdf on this dataset page. Important Note: Users must ensure sufficient local disk space (>135 GB) before extracting this archive. 2.2 Monthly Climatology Data Folder: Monthly_Climatology Size: ~63.2 GB Format: MATLAB (.mat) files. Description: Contains monthly climatological averages calculated from the full daily SOSIM output (1979–2022). Naming Convention: *_Monthly_Climatology_*.mat The leading * denotes the variable name, following MITgcm conventions: ETAN: Surface Height Anomaly MLD: Mixed Layer Depth neutral_density: Neutral Density Prho: Potential Density SALT: Salinity SHIfwFlx: Freshwater Flux at the ice shelf-ocean interface SIarea: SEAICE fractional ice-covered area SIdHbATO: Sea Ice Thickness rate of change by open ocean-atmosphere flux SIheff: SEAICE effective ice thickness SIuice: SEAICE zonal velocity SIvice: SEAICE meridional velocity THETA: Potential Temperature UVEL: Oceanic Zonal Component of Velocity VVEL: Oceanic Meridional Component of Velocity WVEL: Oceanic Vertical Component of Velocity The trailing * denotes the month (e.g., 01 for January). 2.3 Annual Mean Climatology Data Folder: Climatology_Annual_Mean Size: ~4.3 GB Format: MATLAB (.mat) files. Description: Contains annual mean climatological fields calculated from the full SOSIM output. Naming Convention: *_Climatology_Annual_Mean.mat (variable names follow the same convention as in Section 2.2).2.4 WOA18 used in this study Folder: WOA18_on_SOSIM_Grid Size: ~21.2 GB Format: MATLAB (.mat) files. Description: Contains WOA18 dataset regrided on the SOSIM mesh. 2.5 Reproduction Codes for Figures Folder: Code_used_in_the_paper Description: Contains all MATLAB scripts used to generate the figures in the main text and the supplementary material. Naming Convention: Figure_*_S*.m The first * corresponds to the figure number in the main paper. The second * (after S) corresponds to the figure number in the Supplement (if applicable). Running a specific script (e.g., Figure_08_S1.m) will regenerate the corresponding Figure 08 in the manuscript and Figure S1 in the Supplement. 2.6 Data for Plotting Folder: Data_used_in_the_paper Description: Contains the specific data subsets required to run the figure-generation scripts. Common_Data: Data used across multiple figures. Figure*: Individual folders containing data specific to each figure (e.g., the folder ‘Figure08’ contains data for the script ‘Figure_08_S1.m’ to generate Figures 08 and S1). 3. Instructions for Reproducing Results To regenerate the figures from the manuscript: Download the dataset from ScienceDB. Navigate to the Code_used_in_the_paper folder. Open MATLAB and set the current directory to this folder. Run the desired figure script (e.g., Figure_4_S2.m). The scripts are designed to automatically load the necessary data from the Data_used_in_the_paper folder and the climatology data folders. For users wishing to rerun the model or perform different analyses, please extract the SOSIM_v1.0_configuration.zip file to a location with adequate disk space andconsult the configuration files and source code in the extracted SOSIM_v1.0_configuration directory and refer to the model documentation on the MITgcm official website. 4. Contact For questions regarding this dataset or the model code, please contact the corresponding author: Chengyan Liu (liuchengyan@sml-zhuhai.cn). 5. Access to the Full Daily Output Dataset The complete simulation outputs (daily data from 1979–2022) are exceptionally large (>65 TB) and are hosted separately on a publicly accessible FTP server managed by the Data Center of the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Zhuhai). Access instructions for both the permanent archive and the full-output FTP are provided by a descriptive Landing Page: https://www.hellosea.org.cn/data/SOSIM/, and these daily outputs are referenced by https://doi.org/10.12378/geodb.2025.2.117.V1.
