资源简介:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellulose fiber crosslinked with a polymeric polycarboxylic acid exhibiting bulkiness, increased brightness and whiteness and reduced malodor. SOLUTION: The cellulose fiber is crosslinked with bleached polyacrylic acid and has a reduced furfural content. A method for reducing furfural involves curing cellulose fibers crosslinked with polyacrylic acid and subsequent treatment with hydrogen peroxide in the absence of an alkalizing agent or other bleaching agent. Cellulose fibers cross-linked with the treated polyacrylic acid have a furfural content of less than 1.3 ppm. The reduction in the furfural content of the treated crosslinked fibers is at least 55% compared to the untreated crosslinked fibers. The furfural content decreases with aging of the treated crosslinked fibers. SELECTED DRAWING: None
