Abstract Omnipresent, accumulation by dispossession is one of the core elements of contemporary global order. Observed from a critical perspective, extractive uses of the territory are one of the main expressions of this process. In light of that system of ideas, and using the categories and variables of analysis proposed by David Harvey, this paper attempts to demonstrate that the soybean model currently in vogue in Argentina is one of the most complete, comprehensive, current and sophisticated shapes of accumulation by dispossession in the country. In that sense, the paper analyzes the boom of transgenic soy and its links with both secular (financial indebtedness, concentration of rural property, land usurpation) and current forms of dispossession (degradation of nature, dispossession of the right to health, looting of genetic resources) carried out by landlords, financial capital, agro industries and biotechnology corporations to the detriment of small producers, peasants, aboriginal people and the general population.
