The complete chloroplast genome sequence of a popular trade tree Lophostemon confertus (Myrtaceae: Leptospermoideae)

Lophostemon confertus (R.Br.) Peter G.Wilson & J.T.Waterh, a fast growing and popular ornamental tree, is native to Australia and widely cultivated in tropical and subtropic regions. Due to fast growth, evergreen leaves and air pollutant resistance, it is an ideal pioneer species of wasteland afforestation. However, little genetic and genomic information was known for this species and even the subfamily Leptospermoideae it belongs to. Here we report the complete chloroplast genome of L. confertus, which provides a genomic resource for species identification and phylogenetic analysis.
