This dataset is essential data for ecological health assessment of the Ching River Basin based on benthic animals. The data is sourced from field surveys conducted in the autumn of 2021 and spring of 2022, including charts and results from the calculation of benthic organism integrity index (B-IBI) and water quality index (WQI). The dataset specifically includes: 1. Detailed information and latitude and longitude of 41 points in the Ching River Basin, including the distribution of main and tributary rivers, the letter names and point numbers of each river section in the text, and the longitude and latitude of the 41 sampling points; 2. The water quality index (WQI) score table for two seasons in the Ching River Basin, including the WQI scores for autumn and spring at 41 points, as well as the mean values for both seasons, with a maximum score of 100; 3. 30 candidate biological parameters and their response to interference in the B-IBI evaluation screening system; 4. Load values of environmental factors on principal component 1 (PC1) and principal component 2 (PC2); 5. The distribution range of 30 biological index values in autumn at the reference point includes: 25% quantile, median, 75% quantile, standard deviation, and maximum value; 6. The distribution range of 30 biological index values in spring at the reference point includes: 25% percentile, median, 75% percentile, standard deviation, and maximum value; 7. Box plot distribution of 25 biological indices at reference and damaged points in autumn; 8. Box plot distribution of 25 biological indices at reference and damaged points in spring; 9. Two seasons of B-IBI score calculation and health evaluation criteria, with evaluation results divided into: healthy, sub healthy, average, poor, and extremely poor; 10. Evaluation results of B-IBI of benthic animals in the Ching River Basin in spring and autumn, including B-IBI values and evaluation results at various points in both seasons; 11. Two season reference point and damaged point B-IBI value test box plot, where P<0.05 indicates statistical significance of the results, and P<0.01 indicates high statistical significance of the results. The selected B-IBI index can effectively and reliably distinguish healthy water bodies (reference points) from damaged water bodies (damaged points), thus verifying the effectiveness of this biological assessment method.
