Berkeley - Seismic Evaluation of Aged Lead Rubber Bearings

This experiment used the 2-story, 2-bay steel Special Moment Resisting Frame (SMRF) from Experiment 13, but replaced the Triple Pendulum System (TPS) friction bearings with Lead-Rubber bearings (LRB). A suite of ground motions scaled to the LRBs were simulated, with the intent of observing the performance of the structure and the effects of aging on the bearings. These bearing were manufactured over 40 years ago, and several had previously been subjected to seismic testing. These tests were to evaluate the effects of aging on the performance of the LRBs.
