BAT022 - Batta - Batta song

This dataset contains an audio-visual (mp4) recording of a song composed and sung by Henop Dey (born 1943), a native speaker of Batta. He sings the song first in Batta, and then in Indonesian. The session was recorded on 19 December 2019, in Yenenas village (Batanta island, Raja Ampat regency, Southwest Papua province, Indonesia). There are no fieldnotes or transcriptions/translations associated with this item. This dataset relates to the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship 'Synchronic and diachronic investigations in Raja Ampat-South Halmahera, a little-known subbranch of Austronesian' (PF19\100004); additional fieldwork funds were provided by a Moray Endowment Grant from the University of Edinburgh.
