**Overview**
The purpose of this data package is to offer relevant demographic data for those interested to understand the health status of California population groups. This includes health indicators like newborn screenings for congenital diseases, emergency department diagnosis and visits for an asthma attack, infections among California population and surgical site infections along with demographic indicators influenced directly by the population health.

**Description**
Using as source the California Health and Human Services (CHHS) Open Data Portal a number of relevant datasets were enriched with location data (longitude, latitude, county) and made ready to be used. Bellow is provided, besides the above-mentioned localization variables, a list of the main variables that are included along with the main indicator:

- Births: live births number, premature births and year when births took place
- Deaths: age, gender and the year when deaths occurred
- Newborn screening for congenital diseases: number of screened, type of disorder and number of cases
- Emergency department (ED) visits and admissions: medical facility name and ownership type, emergency service required, diagnosis
- Surgical site infections: medical facility name, surgical procedures type and number, actual and predicted number of procedures with surgical site infection
- Infectious disease cases: type of disease, year when cases occurred, number and prevalence
- ER visits for asthma attack: age and number and rate of visits

All datasets used from CHHS Open Data Portal has been modified.
