Observation of parental care of a fledgling Plumbeous Kite (Ictinia plumbea) in the Sierra de Aroa, Independencia, Yaracuy State, Venezuela.

This case study presents a field observation focused on the Sierra de Aroa, Independencia Municipality, Yaracuy State, Venezuela, with the objective of documenting the behavior of a fledgling and the patterns of parental care by adults. The juvenile individual was sighted after leaving the nest, exhibiting the dependency characteristic of this stage. The results describe the frequency, type and duration of feeding interactions between the adults and the juvenile, providing concrete data on the extent of parental care and the development of flight and foraging skills by the fledgling. This information contributes significantly to the body of knowledge on the reproductive ecology of Ictinia plumbea in the forest ecosystems of northern Venezuela.
