资源简介:
Curly (Karelian) birch is distributed in northern Europe including Finland, Russia (Karelia), Baltic countries, Belarus, Poland, southern Sweden and Norway. This special variety of birch does not form forests, rather building small populations scattered within the north-western part of the silver birch (Betula pendula) distribution. The patterned 'curly' wood of the Karelian birch is used for the manufacturing of highly decorative furniture and architectural panels. In the present study, we analyzed Silver and Karelian birch accessions to study their genetic diversity and detect the genetic regions associated with curly wood formation. In total 192 plant accession were analyzed by means of RAD-seq (Restriction-site associated DNA sequencing).
