Flood in Schleswig Holstein region, Germany (2023-10-20)

On 19 October 2023, coastal flooding was reported to have affected especially the State of Schleswig Holstein, Germany. The event is ongoing, water levels are still rising with an expected peak of up to 2.0 m above average in the late evening of 20.10.2023, and therefore, damage is expected to affect urban areas. On Saturday (21.10.2023), a rapid decrease in water levels is predicted. Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping is requested to provide an initial rough estimation, flood extent, and damage assessment emergency mapping.
