This research uses the accelerometer and gyroscope sensors of a smartphone to collect data on the gestures executed by the user. Participants are instructed to orient the mobile phone towards themselves and perform gestures according to their individual habits. The gestures should be initiated from a comfortable position in front of the user, along the vertical axis. This dataset selects five gestures from the numerals 0-9, 26 English letters, and Chinese characters with strokes of 3 or fewer. The five gesture templates consist of the Chinese character big, the letter L, the letter X, the number 4, and the letter G.This dataset involved ten participants who were instructed to gather 50 gestures for each gesture template. Out of the 10 volunteers, half were female and half were male. The duration of collecting gestures lasted for one month in order to assess the consistency of gesture execution habits over time.
