资源简介:
The Legislative Council's, Printing Committee [VA 4901], was first established by a resolution of the Council on 29 November 1864. Initially its role was to examine papers presented to the Legislative Council and to determine which reports should be ordered to be printed.Later, the Committee operated pursuant to Standing Order 304, which stated that at the commencement of each Session, a Select Committee shall be appointed to consider and order upon all matters which relate to the printing to be executed by order of the Council, and for the purpose of selecting and arranging for printing returns and papers presented pursuance to motions made by members. The Printing Committee was a sessional committee of the Legislative Council [VA 471], with members appointed to the Committee shortly after the start of each Parliamentary session.Standing Order 304 was repealed on 22 March 1995 and the Committee was wound up following the establishment of a Joint Printing Committee with the Legislative Assembly [VA 2585].P0000 ConsignmentThe P0000 consignment of this series comprises 1 volume which has been used by 2 committees, Printing Committee [Legislative Council] [VA 4901] and the Select Committee on Markets. The front of the volume is a record created by the Printing Committee which managed the process of printing papers which had been tabled in the Legislative Council. The names of those serving on the Committee are recorded. The series records the title of the paper tabled, when moved and by whom and when laid on the Council table. The report and remarks of the Committee are recorded for each paper, and these columns generally record whether the Committee recommended the paper to be printed, or that no order for printing was made by the Committee. The rear of the volume consists of minutes from meetings of the Select Committee on Markets addressing issues relating to Market Gardeners in Melbourne. In 1999 the former units 1 and 2 were reserialised as VPRS 5158/P1 units 1 and 2.
