Data and metadata from Castro et al._Animal-Plant Interactions Under Defaunation Consequences for Amazonian Trees of Commercial Interest (published in Biotropica)

The data are derived from the manuscript "Animal–Plant Interactions Under Defaunation: Consequences for Amazonian Trees of Commercial Interest", published in Biotropica, which addresses an ecologically and conservation-relevant topic: the cascading effects of mammal defaunation on seed removal and fate in Amazonian forests. This study combines an exclusion experiment that simulates a defaunation gradient to test how the loss of medium and large bodied mammals influences seed removal for commercially valuable tree species in the Amazon.
