Natural Language Processing (NLP) is at the heart of our technology-based approach to finding information about companies’ ESG-related behaviors across vast amounts of published content, then detecting the sentiment embedded in that information. Broadly defined, NLP allows computers to recognize, interpret and manipulate human language. The particular type of NLP we use focuses on extracting meaning from text at a massive scale, in close to real time.
