Plant community matrix data for plant diversity on green roofs in the wild: Testing practitioner and ecological predictions in three midwestern (USA) cities.

This dataset is a plant community data matrix composed of data collected across 42 different green roofs in Chicago, Cleveland, and Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan areas. Each roof was sampled proportionally using a meter squared quadrat divided into 25 subsections. Species were identified to genus or species when possible. Those that were unable to be identified were assigned a morphospecies number. The first three rows include the sampling city, the name of the roof sampled, and the number of quadrats sampled. Plant richness in each quadrat was represented as the proportion out of 25 sub-quadrats that were covered by plant material.
