Flavivirga sp. 57AJ16, a bacteria strain had the ability to degrade chitin, was isolated from coastal sediments of the Yellow Sea of China using enrichment technique. The genomic sequence of Flavivirga sp. 57AJ16 could provide basic information for studies on chitin metabolism, and helpful for understanding the chitin degradation process in coastal environment.
