资源简介:
This data represents the anthropogenic litter (i.e., trash; AL) and coarse particulate organic matter (CPOM) collected on four Chicago, Lake Michigan beaches (Albion, Columbia, North Shore, and Pratt). Data was collected at two transects (pier-adjacent, non-pier adjacent), each with three habitats (upland, beach, strand line). As expected AL and CPOM density were positively related. The distribution pattern of AL and CPOM can be in part be attributed to wind and wave movement. The data presented shows the majority of AL found originated from beach activity rather than offshore activity. With a better understanding of how AL accumulates on beaches, cleanup strategies can be improved to reduce AL pollution.
