NHMD Entomology Collection

The entomological collection (including myriapods and arachnids) is the largest in the museum. It includes ca. NN dry insect specimens on pins in ca. NN drawers, and ca. NN specimens in alcohol in multiple containers. There is a growing DNA-grade insect tissue collection (mainly beetles) kept at low temperatures. The entomological collection has global coverage with particularly good representation of the Palearctic material and samples from East Africa. The Danish fauna is also very well represented. The collection includes many historical and recent nomenclatural types which are kept under particular care, where the material by Fabricius is the most notable. Den entomologiske samling (inklusive myriapoder og arachnider) er den største på museet. Det inkluderer ca. NN tørre insektprøver på stifter i ca. NN-skuffer og ca. NN-prøver i alkohol i flere beholdere. Der er en voksende indsamling af insektvæv af DNA-kvalitet (hovedsagelig biller), der holdes ved lave temperaturer. Den entomologiske samling har global dækning med særlig god repræsentation af det palearktiske materiale og prøver fra Østafrika. Den danske fauna er også meget godt repræsenteret. Samlingen indeholder mange historiske og nylige nomenklaturlige typer, der holdes under særlig omhu, hvor materialet fra Fabricius er det mest bemærkelsesværdige.
