Lab cultured Bryopsis algae ASF14 Genome sequencing and assembly

The goal of this study is to exploration microbial symbionts associated with marine macroalgae Bryopsis algae. Bryopsis algae ASF14 (previously reported as Derbesia sp.) was a marine macroalga originally collected from American Samoa and cultured in lab condition. A molecule, pagoamide A, was isolated from Bryopsis ASF14 culture and found to have moderate bioactivity. Further metatranscriptomic and metatranscriptomic analysis reveals that the production of pagoamide A is attributed to an algal intracellular symbiont, Ca. B. pagoamidifaciens.
