Alosa shads ddRAD sequencing

We explore SNP variation using ddRAD sequencing in Alosa species from the Sea of Azov (Ukraine). The new genetic data are used to: (i) investigate phylogenetic relationships among Alosa species from the Black Sea and Sea of Azov basins; (ii) compare species delimitation based on morphological characters to genetic structure determined from molecular data; and (iii) evaluate the phylogenetic position of Alosa species from the Black Sea and Sea of Azov relative to the Mediterranean and North American members of the genus.
