In highly weathered tropical soils, soil organic matter is critically responsible for crop productivity and climate change mitigation. Thus, the accurate evaluation of soil carbon dynamics for appropriate soil organic matter management is important in such region. Soil microbial property, such as microbial community, is considered as one of the controlling factors affecting soil carbon dynamics. However, the relationship between soil carbon dynamics and microbial community is still unclear, especially in tropical soils. Therefore, our objective was to evaluate soil microbial (bacterial and fungal) community affecting soil carbon dynamics in dry tropical Tanzania. Then, to evaluate the bacterial and fungal community affecting soil carbon dynamics, we incubated soil samples with carbon substrate and extracted bacterial and fungal DNA from the incubated soils.
