Pennycress - A solution for renewable energy, food security, and ecosystem benefits.. Thlaspi arvense

Pennycress (Thlaspi arvense) is under development as a winter annual oilseed bioenergy crop for the U.S. Midwest Corn Belt and other temperate regions. Pennycress has unique attributes such as extreme cold tolerance and rapid spring growth. Pennycress could produce billions of gallons of seed oil annually while reducing soil erosion and fertilizer runoff from farm fields and avoiding land use changes. This represents the whole genome sequences of hundreds of pennycress natural accessions collected from North America and around the world which will be useful for scientific studies of natural variation in this oilseed-producing Brassica species.
