Methodological recommendations for measurements with deuterium-labelled drops in the context of soil erosion caused by rain studies

The deposited data were collected as part of a research project entitled "Determination of soil moisture and texture impact on water origin in splashed soil-water droplets using deuterium-labelled water", funded by the National Science Centre, Poland, under the SONATA-18 project (no. 2022/47/D/ST10/02480). The aim of the project was to determine the origin of water in splashed droplets depending on soil properties such as moisture content, texture, and the energy of the impacting water drop. Water in these droplets originates from two sources: the drop hitting the soil surface and the water present in the soil. The use of isotopic labelling makes it possible to determine the proportion of water in splashed droplets derived from each source. The research was conducted between 01.04.2024 and 01.01.2025 at the Department of Environmental Biogeochemistry of the Institute of Agrophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences. The collection contains research results concerning the development of the methodology for the D₂O-labeled water splash tracing method, including determination of the main sources of measurement uncertainty. The data was compiled on the basis of laboratory tests.
