Song sparrows are one of the most widespread and variable songbirds in North America. Five subspecies are endemic to California with three tidal marsh subspecies in the bay area and the Channel Island subspecies considered bird species of special concern. Samples for this BioProject include all California subspecies and span the entire distribution in the state.. These data have been produced as part of the CCGP. Sequencing was conducted with HiFi Pacific Biosciences long reads at UCDavis Genome Core, Dovetail's OmniC libraries, and Illumina sequencing at UCBerkeley QB3 Genomics Core.
