Pro-inflammatory signaling has been implicated in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Specifically, the canonical pro-inflammatory cytokine, interluekin-1, has been shown to exacerbate pathology. To investigate if disrupting interleukin-1 signaling may be a potential therapeutic in AD, Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist or GFP (control) were over-expressed via adeno-associated viral vectors in brain of 6-month old PS19 mice, a model of tauopathy. Tissue was collected at 9 months of age and total RNA was isolated from posterior cortex.
