Complete genome sequence of Gelria sp. strain Kuro-4

A novel Gelria bacterium, named as strain Kuro-4, was isolated from the thermophilic digester sludge. Strain Kuro-4 shares 98.9 % of the 16S rRNA gene sequence of the Gelria glutamica strain TGO. However, there were differences in substrates that can be used fermentatively between the two strains in co-cultivation with hydrogenotrophic methanogens, and especially strain Kuro-4 could utilize only glutamate in a fermentative manner, but strain TGO can use glutamate, proline and Casamino acids. To clarify the differences between these phenotypic features, we determined a complete genome sequence of strain Kuro-4.
