Site 48SU1002 is located on a colluvial footslope at the base of
Pleistocene terraces immediately above the Green River. A stratigraphic pollen
column was collected to examine the paleoenvironment from prior to occupation,
from near 4000 BP to the present. In addition, pollen and charcoal samples were
collected from Features 5 and 5A, both large roasting pits. The roasting pits
were examined for evidence of foods processed and wood used for fuel.
