Geometric morphometric dataset used in: Olive diversity in Pompeii: morphometric analysis of fuel-derived charred stones from two bakeries on the eve of 79 CE eruption

This repository contains the geometric morphometric dataset used in: Testas et al. (submitted), “Olive diversity in Pompeii: morphometric analysis of fuel-derived charred stones from two bakeries on the eve of the 79 CE eruption” (full reference will be provided upon acceptance). The dataset includes x- and y-coordinates describing closed outlines of the lateral and dorsal views of each olive stone (stored as RDS files), as well as the 48 elliptic Fourier coefficients derived from these outlines after normalization (available as both RDS and CSV files). The full acquisition and processing protocol is described in the associated publication. The dataset comprises both a modern reference collection, consisting of 3,258 olive stones from 110 domesticated and wild accessions, and an archaeological dataset including 511 olive stones recovered from two bakeries in Pompeii, dating to the second half of the 1st century CE.
