<p>3D scan of a block with numerous different species of ammonites from the upper Triassic (ca. 235 mya). This piece comes from the red Hallstätter limestone (Pötschenstein, Austria). 400 million years ago, during the Devonian, Ammonites formed as a group of mollusks. They flourished in the Mesozoic Era, 250–66 million years ago. They are important index fossils which are typical of certain periods of earth’s history and were geographically widespread.</p>
