Nigeria is party to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). ECOWAS in a regional group of 15 states seeking to promote economic integration throughout West Africa. Founded in 1975, ECOWAS is considered one of the three pillars of the future African Economic Community and is designed to facilitate trade, customs, and cross-border economic policy across member states. A sub-grouping of ECOWAS, the West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ), was formed in 2000. Although there are a total of 25 recognized EPZs within Nigeria, only 19 of these were able to be geo-located and are shown in this shapefile. Once identified and attributed, each EPZ was geo-located and confirmed using DigitalGlobe imagery at a 1:1000 scale. The data included herein have not been derived from a registered survey and should be considered approximate unless otherwise defined. While rigorous steps have been taken to ensure the quality of each dataset, DigitalGlobe Analytics is not responsible for the accuracy and completeness of data compiled from outside sources.
