Effects of Pharmacological Injections into the Primary Motor Cortex of Non-Human Primates

Dataset Overview This dataset contains behavioral and neural data collected from monkeys (Cebus apella) performing sequential reaching tasks. Data were obtained during baseline control sessions and during sessions following local microinjections of pharmacological agents into the primary motor cortex (M1).The data were collected to examine how the injected pharmacological agents affect the performance and learning of sequential movements, as well as the neural activity. Methods & Experimental Parameters Subjects: Three adult male monkeys (Monkey N, Monkey R and Monkey S). Pharmacological Agents: Anisomycin, cycloheximide, muscimol, and saline vehicle. Injection Protocol: Injections were delivered via pressure injection through a microcannula, with typical volumes of 2-5 μL. Neural Recording: Extracellular recording of single-unit activity. Repository Structure & File Formats Data files are provided in [.mat / ] formats. behavior_data: Contains error rates, response times, movement times and the coordinates of reaching endpoints. neural_activity: Contains filtered spiking activity aligned relative to screen touch and screen release. analysis codes: Contains custom MATLAB scripts used for data analysis and generating the manuscript figures.
