This dataset contains RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) data generated from brain and lung tissues of Peromyscus leucopus. Animals were either experimentally infected with SARS-CoV-2 or exposed to medium as controls. The study was designed to characterize the transcriptional response of lung and brain tissue to viral infection and to identify differentially expressed genes associated with this response. Tissue samples were collected at day 3 and day 6 post-infection. Total RNA was extracted, and sequencing libraries were prepared and subjected to high-throughput sequencing. Raw sequencing reads were processed and aligned to the reference P. leucopus coding DNA sequence (CDS) dataset (DOI: 10.5061/dryad.hdr7sqvwr).
