Combining transcriptomics and physiology to characterize plastic and evolved responses of Crassostrea virginica reared in common garden at two estuaries in the northern Gulf of Mexico

We assess the physiological and transcriptomics response of C. virginica, eastern oysters, raised in common garden at two Louisiana, USA estuaries naturally differing in salinity regimes. We use a combination of growth rates, P. marinus infection levels, and 3 prime RNA sequencing (TagSeq) to identify the effect of genotype, environment, and genotype by environment interaction on the oyster's response to site.
