Operational assessment of pilot plant ultrafiltration and hydrolysate processing of underexploited finfish waste slurry

Old Port Seafoods, a producer of cooked and uncooked shrimp products and various finfish products has a processing problem because the amount and content of the wastewater being discharged into the municipal sewer system periodically exceeds pennitted levels. A novel engineering study using "Ultrafiltration" technology was perfonned to address the problem. It was found that the pilot plant met or exceeded municipal guidelines for sewer discharges using both freshwater and saltwater as waste mediums.
