Early-life galacto-oligosaccharides supplementation protects the small intestinal function of lipopolysaccharides-challenged suckling piglets via modulating gut microbiota composition

Galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) have been shown to modulate the intestinal microbiota of suckling piglets to exert benecial effects on intestinal function. However, the modulation of intestinal microbiota and intestinal function by GOS in intestinal inammation injury models has rarely been reported. In this project, we investigated the effects of GOS on small intestinal microbiota composition, barrier function and inammatory response of lipopolysaccharides-challenged suckling piglets.
