Interference calculations using NPD ratios.

The number of NPDs was compared to the expected number using the Stahl Online Laboratory “Better Way” calculator (http://www.molbio.uoregon.edu/~fstahl/). Chromosome XV data were obtained from EAY background strains; chromosomes III, VII, and VIII data were obtained from NHY background strains. The total number of 4-spore viable tetrads used for analysis is shown. The number of PD, NPD and TT tetrads can be found in Table 1. p values were calculated from the chi-square values provided by the “Better Way” program using Vasserstats (http://faculty.vassar.edu/lowry/VassarStats.html) chi-square to p calculator with one degree of freedom. “I” indicates if interference was statistically detectable.
