Mangrove forests are found across the world's tropical and sub-tropical coastlines and are home to numerous species, many of which are rare and only found in mangrove ecosystems. They are also vitally important to the livelihoods and well-being of millions of people; providing food, building materials and natural spaces1 and reducing the severity of climate change by capturing and storing carbon and protecting coastal areas from storms and floods2.
