Genome sequencing and assembly of Gordonia hongkongensis

Actinomycetes are bacteria with high biotechnological potential, among which streptomycetes are the most widely known. However, rare actinomycetes represent an interesting option to explore in the search for high value-added products such as biologically active metabolites, enzymes with industrial application, organisms with potential application in environmental protection, among others. This study aims to isolate strains of marine actinomycetes and explore/characterize their potential biotechnological application. Here we present the result of genome assembly of a Gordonia hongkongensis strain isolated from the octocoral Eunicea fusca.
