Home As The First Classroom - DataSet

This dataset contains home observation data submitted by parents of children enrolled at Blue Blocks Montessori School, Hyderabad, Telangana, India, as part of the Blue Blocks Micro Research Institute's programme of school-based educational research. The two files correspond to the two branches of Blue Blocks Montessori School and together constitute the complete Blue Blocks home observation dataset: Dataset 1 (Branch 1, n = 38) and Dataset 2 (Branch 2, n = 61), for a combined total of 99 Blue Blocks parent-submitted records. Both files share an identical 157-column structure comprising one title row, one header row, and one row per Blue Blocks family. Data were collected across one or more quarterly observation periods (Q1–Q4) and cover children aged approximately 2.5–6 years. The instrument captures seventeen thematic domains: hourly weekday and weekend daily routine (6 am–9 pm); absorbent mind awareness; sensitive period intensity ratings across eight domains (language, coordinated movement, social behaviour, order, small objects, writing, reading, and music); order distress observations; prepared home environment; independence behaviour frequencies; daily care skills; care of environment and food participation; language and reading environment; sensorial environment and concentration; gadget exposure; parenting approach frequencies; emotional health; gross motor activity; music and art; social participation and values; and four open narrative reflection questions inviting Blue Blocks parents to describe emerging interests, concentration episodes, nature engagement, and the most significant development observed in their child during the quarter.
