资源简介:
In this study, we present the most comprehensive transcriptome assembly of Dermacentor nitens, commonly known as the tropical horse tick. This tick species plays a significant role in veterinary and public health due to its impact on livestock and its potential for pathogen transmission. The applications of transcriptomics have facilitated the identification of a large set of tick molecules that impact tick feeding and play a crucial role in the transmission of tick-borne pathogens. Deep sequencing methodologies have been instrumental in acquiring this new information, consequently advancing the study of the biology of disease vectors that unfortunately lack reference genomes. Processes such as assembling and annotating identified transcripts, describing the transcriptomes and proteomes of various tick species, and depositing novel tick-derived sequences in the NCBI database have significantly contributed to our understanding of tick physiology and feeding biology. Understanding the biology of ticks is crucial for effective tick management and disease prevention strategies, Similarly, the data generated here can be used to better understand tick evolution, allowing comparison with species from the same genus that are responsible for transmitting diseases to humans.
