The goal of this project was to identify non-standard viral genomes from next generation RNA-sequencing data for arenaviruses. We isolated RNA from cells or supernatant of cells infected with lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus strains Armstrong 53b and Clone 13, Junin virus candid#1, or Parana virus. Then cDNA libraries were prepped with Illumina Truseq stranded total RNA kits and sequenced on either a NovaSeq 6000 or NextSeq 550. Data was further analyzed by VODKA2 bioinformatics pipeline for detection of non-standard viral genomes.
