ASSESSMENT OF THE PERFORMANCE OF VARIOUS HYBRID MAIZE (Zea mays L.) VARIETIES DURING SPRING SEASON IN DHADING, NEPAL

This research was conducted on Dhading, Nepal to identify superior hybrid genotypes of maize. The genotypes were evaluated in a randomized complete block design with three replications. They were sampled for different traits such as days to 50% plant emergence, plant height, days to 50% plant tasseling, days to 50% silking, anthesis-silking interval, cob height, leaf number below the main cob, leaf number above the main cob, stem girth, number of cobs per plant, cob length, cob girth, number of kernel row per cob, number of kernels per row, thousand kernel weight and grain yield. Among the 7, C.P.808 and Rampur Hybrid-10 are found to be better in yield and yield attributing characters.
