资源简介:
This dataset has been obtained in a study corresponding to the paper entitled "Environmental organic carbon availability determines metabolic and consumption rates in freshwater isopods" and published in the journal OIKOS (10.1002/oik.11149). It presents measurements performed to evaluate how the environmental availability of three main organic carbon (OC) sources (coarse and fine particulate organic matter, and sedimentary biofilm) influences the basal metabolic (respiration) and OC consumption rates by four species of freshwater asellid isopods. The four isopod taxa used consist of two surface-dwelling and two obligate-groundwater species inhabiting environments characterized by profoundly asymmetric OC availabilities. The dataset consistes in two excel sheets. The first one contains data on individuals of the four species (individual dry mass, individual carbon and nitrogen mass, C:N ratios, respiration rates) used for basal metabolism (respiration) measurements (10 individuals were used per species). The second sheet contains data of OC consumption rates measured for the four isopod species and the three OC sources (3 to 5 replicates were obtained per treatment "isopod species x OC source"). The codes R for statistical analyses are are also included (pdf document entitled Suppl Mat 4). These data and codes allowed us to demonstrate the links between the OC availability in the field and the metabolic and feeding activities of isopods.
