Head of an athlete made around 430 BC and displayed at the Antike am Königsplatz in Munich, Germany. This is a Roman copy of a work by Polyclitus. Polyclitus, also spelled Polycleitus or Polykleitos, (flourished c. 450–415 BCE), was a Greek sculptor from the school of Árgos, known for his masterly bronze sculptures of young athletes. He was also one of the most significant aestheticians in the history of art. This object is part of Scan The World.
