This study aims to analyze the bacterial diversity, and particularly the abundance of phosphate accumulating organisms (PAO), in aerobic granules with different size and density. The ultimate goal is to apply a selective sludge removal in a sequential batch reactor to increase the quantity of PAO-enriched granules, hence improving phosphorus removal in the reactor.
