The database includes taxonomic identifications, counts, habitat scores, and water quality measurements such as pH, conductivity, and dissolved oxygen, and it supports development of the Chessie BIBI, a standardized index used to evaluate stream macroinvertebrate community condition across bioregions. To reduce bias across programs, the data are normalized, then scored using bioregion-specific thresholds and grouped into five ratings: Excellent, Good, Fair, Poor, and Very Poor; station-level ratings are then area-weighted across HUC12 watersheds to estimate overall basin-wide condition.</div><div></div><div></div><div><strong><br /></strong></div><div><strong>Note: This Indicator supported progress tracking toward the Stream Health Outcome in the original Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement, adopted in 2014. The Watershed Agreement and Stream Health Outcome were revised in 2025.</strong></div>
