Performance indicators in the Unified Health System: an assessment of advances and gaps

ABSTRACT The Indicator Matrix developed by the Project Health Systems Performance Evaluation became benchmark in the country. After the implementation of the Pact for Health System in the Unified Health System (SUS), and their successors, the indicators used to assess and monitor the performance of the SUS, from 2007 to 2015, are systematized and classified according to the theoretical and conceptual framework of the project. The presence or absence of indicators for the various dimensions and their relevance for evaluating the performance of the SUS is discussed.
