"THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PRE-OPERATIVE VASCULAR MAPPING IN DETERMINING OUTCOMES OF ARTERIOVENOUS FISTULA CREATION AMONG HEMODIALYSIS PATIENTS IN MOSHI URBAN"

This study aimed to evaluate the impact of pre-operative Doppler vascular mapping on arteriovenous fistula (AVF) maturation among chronic hemodialysis patients in Moshi Urban, Northern Tanzania. Using a retrospective cohort design, outcomes of patients who underwent vascular mapping were compared with those who did not, with primary assessment of AVF maturation at 12 weeks. The study further sought to identify independent predictors of AVF failure, assess complication patterns, and determine clinically relevant age thresholds among high-risk groups, particularly diabetic patients, to inform individualized surgical planning and improve dialysis access outcomes.
